We live in the Northeastern part of Alaska, where the Yukon River meets with the Porcupine River, straddling the Arctic Circle in the vast low lands of the Yukon Flats. We have been here since the beginning of time, according to our elders - indigenous people of our lands.
We are as complex as the Yukon river- which is our life line. We are Dinjii Zhuh, Gwichyaa Gwich’in, which translates: ’those who dwell on the flats.’
Our food comes from our river, our lakes, the nesting spots, and feeding sloughs where we sustain our lives.
